Running outside beaten paths

Have you ever experienced the feeling of thinking, while you are planning a trip, that you don’t want to go where everyone has already been? That when you’ll come back, what you’ve seen will have already been seen and told and posted on instagram by all your friends who were there the year before?

You are not the only one! It is getting more and more common to search for untrodded routes: a little, forgotten corner of the globe that look like paradise, a breathtaking hike in the mountains, as well as meet small old town where you can live as a local… whatever outside the popular itineraries! Don’t panic, there is so much more than turist trap: sometimes also the big cities offers you special, uncommon opportunities to live unique experiences!

If you are one of those traveler who love challanges, you should have a look on this! The Rome International Marathon is back, in its 25° edition, giving the world a fascinating chance: running through the beautiness of the Ethernal City with other thousands of visitors that match the passion for sport with an unusual way of visiting the italian capital.

Do you want to take part?

The start line is located in front of the 2,000 year old Colosseum, and from here is a real festival of magnificent sights. Amongst other things, you will run past St. Peter’s Basilica, the Trevi Fountain, Piazza Navona, the Spanish Steps and a lot of picturesque, narrow streets in the old part of the city. So, remember your camera but leave your aspirations at home – you need to appreciate all the breathtaking landmarks and to conquer the cobblestones, that cover about half the road. The course is surprisingly flat for a city built on seven hills, but the sometimes cobblestone streets, which in the narrowest places can feel quite crowded, can add a few extra minutes to your finish time.
